Thanks tryagain. All very useful stuff to know - and I didn't know it :-) Incidentally , is the stuff about duplicates search results and downsides of having multiple maps enabled included somewhere in the Navit wiki? If it isn't, it should probably be added. It will certainly help others. I kind of feel indebted for all the good answers here - so I'm happy to add it myself - but I see the wiki is in the middle of a clean-up - so maybe somebody already involved would be better placed to do it?
