Worshiping God for Who He Is
 
How is "worship" defined?
 
The very first instance of the word "Worship" in the Bible has this meaning: "to prostrate oneself  in homage to God"; this word is also translated as "bow yourself down, crouch, fall down flat, humbly beseech, make obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship. This same Hebrew word is used throughout the Old Testament.
The word for "worship" in the New Testament carries the same meaning as is demonstrated in the following verse (Note how the Bible explains itself, once again):
 
(1 Cor 14:25b)- "and so falling down on his face he will worship God,"
 
The Webster's English Dictionary has this to say about "worship":
"To ascribe honor, dignity, greatness of character, or worthiness to something or someone. To perform any prayer, church service, or other rite showing reverence or devotion to a Deity. Religious homage or veneration. Extreme devotion, intense love, or admiration of any kind.
 
Psa 86:9-13 (KJV)
All nations whom thou hast made
shall come and worship before thee, O Lord;
and shall glorify thy name.
{10} For thou art great, and doest wondrous things:
thou art God alone.
{11} Teach me thy way, O LORD;
 I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
 {12} I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart:
and I will glorify thy name for evermore.
 {13} For great is thy mercy toward me:
and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

Reasons to Worship God
 
God is Eternal
Psa 102:24-27 (KJV)
 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days:
thy years are throughout all generations.
 {25} Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth:
and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
{26} They shall perish, but thou shalt endure:
yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;
as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
{27} But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
 
God is Deserving of Praise and Publication
Psa 107:1-2 (KJV)
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good:
for his mercy endureth for ever.
{2} Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

 Psa 107:8-9 (KJV)
 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,
and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
{9} For he satisfieth the longing soul,
and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
 
God is the Bread of Life
John 6:35(KJV)
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life:
he that cometh to me shall never hunger;
and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
 
God is My Wonderful Counselor
Isa 9:6-7 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God,
The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
{7} Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom,
to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice
 from henceforth even for ever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

God is My Hope
Ps.71:4-5(KJV)
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,
 out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD:
thou art my trust from my youth.
 
Defender of widows and orphans
Psa 68:4-6 (KJV)
Sing unto God, sing praises to his name:
 extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH,
and rejoice before him.
{5} A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows,
is God in his holy habitation.
{6} God setteth the solitary in families:
 he bringeth out those which are bound with chains:
but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

God Is My Protector Against the Wicked Ones
Psa 140:6-9 (KJV)
 I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God:
hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
{7} O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation,
thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
{8} Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked:
further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
{9} As for the head of those that compass me about,
let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
 
God is Merciful to Me
Psa 41:10-13 (KJV)
 But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me,
and raise me up, that I may requite them.
{11} By this I know that thou favourest me,
because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
{12} And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity,
and settest me before thy face for ever.
{13} Blessed be the LORD God of Israel
from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
 
God is Our Help in time of need
Psa 33:18-22 (KJV)
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him,
upon them that hope in his mercy;
{19} To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
{20} Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
{21} For our heart shall rejoice in him,
 because we have trusted in his holy name.
{22} Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us,
according as we hope in thee.
 
God is Glorious in Power
Isa 64:1-2 (KJV)
Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down,
that the mountains might flow down at thy presence.
{2} As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil,
to make thy name known to thine adversaries,
that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
 
The Ultimate Victor over Evil
Rev 19:11-13 (KJV)
 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse;
and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
{12} His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns;
and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
 {13} And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:
and his name is called The Word of God.
 
Watch, Wait, and Pray
Rev 22:20 (KJV)
 He which testifieth these things saith,
Surely I come quickly.
