Worshiping
God for Who He Is
(Exo 34:14 KJV)
For thou shalt worship no other god (than Jehovah}:
for the LORD,
whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
How is "worship" defined?
The very first instance of the word
"Worship" in the Bible has this meaning: "to prostrate oneself in
homage to God"; this word is also translated as "bow yourself down, crouch,
fall down flat, humbly beseech, make obeisance, do reverence, make to
stoop, worship. This same Hebrew word is used throughout the Old
Testament.
The word for "worship" in the New
Testament carries the same meaning as is demonstrated in the following verse
(Note how the Bible explains itself, once again):
(1 Cor 14:25b)-
"and so falling down on
his face he will worship God,"
The Webster's English Dictionary has
this to say about "worship":
"To ascribe honor, dignity, greatness
of character, or worthiness to God. To perform any prayer, church service, or
other rite showing reverence or devotion to God. Religious homage or veneration.
Extreme devotion, intense love, or admiration of
God.
Psa 86:9-13

All nations whom thou hast made
shall come and worship before thee, O
Lord;
and shall glorify thy name.
{10} For thou art
great, and doest wondrous things:
thou art God alone.
{11} Teach me thy way, O
LORD;
I will walk in thy truth:
unite my heart {give me singlness
of purpose) to fear thy name.
{12} I will praise thee,
O Lord my God, with all my heart:
and I will glorify thy name for
evermore.
{13} For great is
thy mercy toward me:
and thou hast delivered my soul from
the lowest hell.

O come, let us worship and bow
down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
{7} For he is our God; and we
are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
To day if ye will hear his voice, {8}
Harden not your heart, as in the provocation,
and as in the day of temptation
in the wilderness:

O worship the LORD in the beauty of
holiness:
fear before him, all the earth.
{10} Say among the heathen that the
LORD reigneth:
the world also shall be
established that it shall not be moved:
he shall judge the people
righteously.
{11} Let the heavens rejoice, and let
the earth be glad;
let the sea roar, and the fulness
thereof.
{12} Let the field be joyful, and all
that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
{13} Before the LORD: for he cometh,
for he cometh to judge the earth:
he shall judge the world with
righteousness,
and the people with his
truth.
Reasons to Worship
God

I said, O
my God, take me not away in the midst of my days:
thy years are
throughout all generations.
{25} Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth:
and the
heavens are the work of thy hands.

They shall perish, but thou shalt endure:
yea, all of them
shall wax old like a garment;
as a
vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no
end.
God is Deserving
of Praise and Publication
Psa 107:1-2 (KJV)
O give
thanks unto the LORD, for he is good:
for
his mercy endureth for ever.
{2} Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
whom he
hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Oh that
men would praise the LORD for his goodness,
and for his
wonderful works to the children of men!

and filleth the

God is Our Wonderful
Counselor
Isa 9:6-7

For unto us a child is born, unto us
a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his
shoulder:
and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God,
The everlasting Father, The Prince of
Peace.
{7} Of the increase of his
government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and upon
his kingdom,
to order it, and to establish it with
judgment and with justice
from henceforth even for ever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will
perform this.
God is My Hope
Ps.71:4-5(KJV)
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the
hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou
art my trust from my
youth. God is the Defender of widows
and orphans
Psa 68:4-6 (KJV)
Sing unto
God, sing praises to his name:
extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH,
and
rejoice before him.
{5} A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows,
is God in his holy habitation.
{6} God setteth the solitary in
families:
he
bringeth out those which are bound with chains:
but
the rebellious dwell in a dry
land.
God Is My Protector Against the
Wicked Ones
Psa 140:6-9 (KJV)
I said unto the LORD, Thou
art my God:
hear the voice of my supplications, O
LORD.
{7} O GOD the Lord, the
strength of my salvation,
thou hast covered my head in the day
of battle.
{8} Grant not, O LORD, the
desires of the wicked:
further not his wicked device;
lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
{9} As for the head of those
that compass me about,
let the mischief of their own lips
cover them.
God is Merciful to
Me

But
thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me,
and
raise me up, that I may requite them.
{11} By this I know that thou favourest me,
because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
{12} And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity,
and
settest me before thy face for ever.

from
everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
God is Our Help in time of
need

Behold, the eye of the LORD is
upon them that fear him,

LORD: he is our help and our shield.

holy name.
{22} Let thy mercy, O LORD, be
upon us,
according as we hope in

God is Glorious in Power
Isa 64:1-2

Oh that thou wouldest rend the
heavens, that thou wouldest come down,
that the mountains might flow down at
thy presence.
{2} As when the melting
fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil,
to make thy name known to thine
adversaries,
that the nations may tremble
at thy presence! God Is the Ultimate
Victor over Evil
