On Thursday, the Shiv Sena’s mouth-piece Samna published an editorial that
attacked the Gujarati community of Mumbai. Language that was earlier reserved
for poor migrants was now being used for the Gujarati community now.
"Staying in Mumbai, they enjoyed wealth. They minted money... those who were
penniless exploited Mumbai, Maharashtra and built their own Dwarka of gold and
are calling the shots in the country's power politics based on this wealth
generated from Mumbai," the editorial said.
With such a scathing attack on them, Gujaratis would surely have expected Shri
Modi to come out and defend their dignity. Instead, what to they get? Timid
silence.
Where is Shri Modi's Gujarati Asmita that he can't prevent even an ally from
insulting Gujaratis?
Mumbai has progressed because of the hard working people who live there. It
belongs to every Indian, from Gujarat, from Eastern UP or Bihar or any other
part of the country. It embraces them irrespective of where they come from.
He did not say a word when people from Bihar and East UP were attacked and
didn’t say a word now when people from his own state were ridiculed. In fact,
he seldom stands up for anything that does not benefit him.
