Try using a product from Omega called TAP. I think it stands for thermal adhesive pads. There are about 100 per roll and each is about 1cm x 2cm. This product was designed for this specific purpose.

I'd appreciate any advice that could point to a higher performing tape/adhesive for such an application. Some of the IC's are quite small which doesn't leave much surface area for adhesion and I am using as many as 40 thermocouples per card.
