There is already a 1.3 OSX release so maybe not needed right now.
uh... I think it is needed. The OSX version did *not* compile... out
of the box. In fact the make file wasnt even set with MACOSX (or
whatever the variable is) = 1.
And particularly if there is some cleaner way of dealing with boehm,
which I couldnt get to compile without darwinports (which puts the
files in a different place than neko expects them) then that would be
great too.
I just think getting installers to be exactly right is really
important. leaving the last little bit of the install as an "exercise
for the reader" is not newbie friendly.

Right now, we are talking about the binary distribution, not the
source one. My package is a binary, statically linked with boehm gc
and it even shows neko's logo during installation, very newbie
friendly ;-)
