Hello Maurizio,

  my 2 cents: check what MPM does your Apache use. mod_neko is only
  compatible with 'prefork' MPM, and 'worker' MPM (which is faster)
  does not work together with mod_neko. Read more about MPMs here:
  http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mpm.html

  And BTW, why can't you update Apache yourself? If you're under VPS,
  you can control everything on your 'virtual linux box' - I've done a
  similar thing once..
