Reference Guide
Your Host Steven Haines

Last week saw the release of Jetty 5.0, the Servlet container embedded in Geronimo and previously embedded in JBoss. Greg Wilkins blogs about all of the new features and the direction of Jetty 6.0. Elsewhere in the Java Industry, JBoss announced its intention to join the Eclipse project, primarily in the area of Web tools.
If you look around InformIT this week, you'll notice a group of reference guide hosts decided to all address imaging and graphics. Not to be left out, I added the first in a short series on building a Web Photo Gallery using Java. This week, I show you how to load images into BLOB database columns, how to retrieve them out of BLOBs, and serve them as images through a Servlet.
Marcus Zarra, who has been walking us through various aspects of using the Swing
JTable over the past couple months, has a new article on building a Sortable JTable. Rajal Shah walks through collecting performance metrics in WebLogic using JMX and HP OpenView. And, finally, we have a sample chapter from Tomcat 5 Unleashed: Tomcat 5 Administration Basics. Plenty of good reading!
