All Horoscopes: http://web1.nypost.com/cgi-bin/horoscope.pl
ARIES
You are not the sort to let others' doubts stop you and that's just as well because
you will encounter all sorts of negative reactions today. The more friends and family
members try to tell you that what you are planning is doomed from the start, the more
determined you will be to prove them wrong - and you might just succeed.
1-900-990-7810*
TAURUS
You may not be the kind to rock the boat just for the fun of it, but at some stage
today you will do something that is designed to shake things up a bit. On the work
front, especially, you seem to have fallen into a rut and need to inject a bit more
energy and excitement into what has become just another routine.
1-900-990-7811*
GEMINI
You like to be on the winning side, and from the look of your chart, that will not be
a problem. However, winning isn't everything, and if you get the chance to help
someone who is down on his luck, you should do so, even if it means you don't achieve
quite as much as you would have if you had chosen to be selfish about it.
1-900-990-7812*
CANCER
You must decide on a course of action today and then you must stick to it. The more
you hem and haw and change your mind, the more likely it is your efforts will fall
short and leave you feeling as if you have wasted your time and your talents. What
matters more than anything now is that you focus your energy in a single direction -
and almost any direction will do.
1-900-990-7813*
LEO
If someone says something about you today that is obviously not true, you must do your
best to resist the urge to get angry about it - because that is exactly what he is
hoping you will do. Pretend you are not in the least bit upset about what was said and
he will most likely leave you alone. You can get even later, at your leisure, and at a
time of your own choice.
1-900-990-7814*
VIRGO
You may be in no mood to suffer fools, but you may have no choice in the matter.
Someone in a position of authority will ask you to work with someone you don't much
respect, and as it is more of an order than a request, what can you do? Strive to be
fair with him - he may not be as incompetent as you believe.
1-900-990-7815*
LIBRA
You may not want to be ruthless, but you really have no choice because if you allow
others to distract you today, precious little will get done, and that would be a
shame. You have so much going for you now and there are so many opportunities and
possibilities - you cannot afford to be sidetracked by petty issues and petty people.
1-900-990-7816*
SCORPIO
Don't worry about what you are planning to do because the planets indicate that you
are under divine protection. That is not, of course, an invitation to act recklessly,
but you have been a bit too defensive lately and you need to take a few more risks.
You also need to wake up to the fact that your fate is in your own hands.
1-900-990-7817*
SAGITTARIUS
It's not like you to be reluctant to try something new, so why are you holding back?
Maybe your sixth sense is telling you to take care, or maybe you have suffered so many
setbacks lately that you think another one is right around the next corner. Don't
worry, the law of averages is on your side: Your next venture will be a huge success.
1-900-990-7818*
CAPRICORN
It is high time you took control of your current situation, rather than let other
people decide what you will do and how you will do it. You are a Capricorn, which
means you were born to be a leader, not a follower, so get your act together and let
everyone know that from here on in, whether they like it or not, you are the boss.
1-900-990-7819*
AQUARIUS
There is good and bad in every person, and if you keep that fact in mind, you will
avoid the kind of confrontational situation that might ruin an otherwise glorious day.
It will also pay you to remember that just because you have strong feelings about
something does not mean others must feel strongly about it, too. Each to his own.
1-900-990-7808*
PISCES
If something is worth having it, is worth making sacrifices for, so think twice before
you reject an attractive offer today simply because you will have to pay for it in
some way. Keep emotion out of it and decide logically and clearly how much you want it
and how much you are prepared to give up in exchange. Then make your move.

ANOTHER MAGIC YANKEE MOMENT: http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/29829.htm
By GEORGE KING
It's one thing to lust for the biggest stage. It's quite different to look as
comfortable on it as Frank Sinatra.
Alex Rodriguez pined for meaningful October games. He dreamed of being part of the
best month in sports. Boston would have been OK. The Bronx was better.
Now, after playing a huge role in the Yankees' pulsating, 7-6, 12-inning Game 2 ALDS
victory over the Twins last night.

GOOD OLD DAYS ARE NOW: http://www.nypost.com/sports/29826.htm
ONE of these days, impossible as it seems, this is all going to end. The ninth-inning
magic will vanish. The splendid soundtrack of a Yankee Stadium October will be muted.
And all of the wonderful perks that go along with rooting for these Yankees the
hoarse voices, the sleepless nights, the hours spent replaying moments, and memories
will be gone.
    One of these days.
For now, we still have these Yankees, and these moments.

YANKS' CRAZY WORLD: http://www.nypost.com/sports/29828.htm
WELCOME to the Bizarro World in which the Yanks cannot trust their offense, Tom
Gordon or Mariano Rivera, and must rely instead on their starting rotation, Tanyon
Sturtze and Alex Rodriguez in the clutch.

BOSOX FATE RESTS IN PEDRO'S HANDS: http://www.nypost.com/sports/29841.htm
ANAHEIM Rarely do mod ern-day marriages of players to franchises end well. The
Giants, despite almost all predictions, got so much money's worth in the eight seasons
for which Barry Bonds signed in 1992 that they re-upped. But at $253 million over 10
years, the Rangers and Alex Rodriguez choked each other's chances to live happily ever
after.

His glove one night. His bat the next. Torii Hunter is a special player, and the

needed only one.

A-ROD FINALLY EARNING HIS PINSTRIPES: http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/29827.htm
ALEX Rodriguez earned his Pinstripes last night. Twice. As a result, this may be
one magical postseason. After two innings, the Yankees found themselves down to the
pesky Twins, 3-1 at the Stadium. Gary Sheffield's two-run home run tied it in the
third, then in the fifth, at 8:22, Rodriguez officially joined the Yankees when his
solo home run fittingly landed on the netting over Monument Park. That gave Jon Lieber
and the Yankees a 4-3 lead.

SATELLITE BOOST
By TIM ARANGO
Sirius and the entire satellite radio industry got a stunning boost yesterday when
potty-mouthed shock jock Howard Stern announced he will ditch his nationally

WHY DEMS DAMN W: http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/19967.htm
BY GEORGE F. WILL
IF 9/11 had never happened if debate about domestic policy had not been drowned out
by the roar of war the potential domestic ramifications of this election would give
it unusual nation-shaping power. To understand why is to understand some of the
Democratic rage about the specter of a second term for George W. Bush.

DEGAULLE VS. KERRY: http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/19989.htm
BY ERIC FETTMANN
IT was one of John Kerry's most effective moments at last week's presidential debate
in fact, it's been a Democratic staple throughout the debate over the war in Iraq,
used by people like Joe Biden and Zbigniew Brzezinski as a telling example from
history that holds President Bush up to ridicule.

DEBATE TIPS FOR THE CHIEF: http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/19972.htm
BY DICK MORRIS
THE strategy required for coaching a presi dent for a debate is the exact opposite of
that you have to use to prep a challenger. Challengers need to learn as much as
they can to prepare for all questions and become conversant with every area of policy.
A president is already informed; the coach's job is to help him sift through what he
knows and hone from it a coherent response to challenges from his adversary.

GOLD RUSH: http://www.nypost.com/style/31150.htm
 By MELISSA LIEBLING-GOLDBERG
This fall is the beginning of a new Gilded Age. Flashy and dynamic gold is showing on
everything from sequins to leather to lace. Metallics have become the chic answer to
neutrals - gold goes with everything and already matches at least half your jewelry
box. Make a splash at work with J.Lo's luminous shoulder bag, then switch to Whiting
and Davis' sexy metal mesh clutch for a night out. Sex up a preppy pink polo with a
dose of sparkly sequins around the neck. Or be discreet with Gap's floral pin - just a
little glint of gold to brighten up the most basic outfit.
