The Marco Island Charter Middle School already serves kids from the island, a mostly wealthy, white neighborhood. After legal hiccups last week, proponents of the River Park charter school have this question: Why does the Collier County School Board pay for a $10 million schoolhouse for Marco Island charter, but has a problem leasing land to the new charter? NAPLES PARK AREA REJECTS CONTROVERSIAL BEST FRIEND PARK PLAN Naples Park wants to cut the park, not from its name, but from the southeast corner of 104th Avenue and Seventh Street. Surveys counted Tuesday showed a majority of 1,795 respondents don�t want Best Friend Park to be built. Last month, the county�s Parks and Recreation Department sent the surveys to the more than 3,000 Naples Park property owners, asking them if they supported or opposed the community park. Jeb Bush and the Cabinet approved a rule Tuesday that will prevent insurance companies from canceling or not renewing homeowners insurance policies for hurricane victims through the end of the year.
