The body of the 37-year-old black man � who was wearing blood-stained tan pants and an orange shirt � was found by a boater about 6:30 a.m. at the driveway entrance to the Lovers Key/Carl E. Johnson State Park's boat ramp overlooking Estero Bay, said Ileana LiMarzi, a Lee County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. MANY RESIDENTS UNHAPPY WITH PROPOSED ROAD EXTENSION Emotions ran a little high Tuesday night over a proposed roadway that has pitted developers, homeowners and environmental groups on polarized sides. A traffic consultant working for the Lee County Department of Transportation unveiled the latest options for the County Road 951 extension, known as Collier Boulevard in Collier County. LEE COUNTY'S CHANCE FOR BENSON PROPERTY DIMS Despite a 21-day extension on the nomination for a Lee County land-buying program and a $4.7 million offer � up from $4.48 million � there is virtually no hope now that Lee County will be able to acquire the 427-acre Benson-Pulling property for preservation. The property is the last large piece of environmentally significant land left within the Bonita Springs city limits that could be acquired for preservation. SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING DEATH OF LEE JAIL INMATE The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances of how a Lee County Jail inmate died this weekend after struggling with guards in his cell. Byron Black, 39, of Fort Myers, died Saturday at Lee Memorial Hospital after a series of violent outbursts at the jail caused deputies to use both a stun gun and pepper spray to subdue him, sheriff's officials said.
