It only happens if the F-Boat List link is still in one of the To:. CC:, or
BCC: windows when you hit send.

If people copy the recipient's email address to the To: window, and delete
the F-Boats link, it'll only go to the intended recipient.

But if the F-Boats link is still there, we all get a copy.

As to the question of why someone would send a personal reply to the whole
list, all I can think of are two reasons: in error or ignorance. I've done
the former a number of times myself....
