I'll bite, Damon Linkous, showed up at OSYC with an ugly (sorry but it was beige) boat with beachcats.com on the side. later we started our own site and I was looking around to see what other people were doing with their sites and I remembered the ugly (sorry again) boat. I lurked for a while then considered dumping "the list" cause y'all were so mean to each other. Then I realized that you all knew and expected a certain amount of sarcasm. and being a sarcastic [EMAIL PROTECTED] my self figured I would not be out of place to read along, now I just laugh most of the time and continue to lurk unless I am inspired to pour buckets of acetone on a righting line for a hobie 16 with wings on fire.

The following week at work I was surfing the net looking for information on hobie cats, I knew next to nothing about them, and never sailed one. I remember while doing a search that I came across a random post about "the butt cheek differential" This took me to "on the wire" and from on the wire I found my way to "the list". The list, on the wire, and thebeachcats.com have been an unbelievable source of learning and information for me. I have to believe being associated with this group has taken years off our learning curve. On top of that it has introduced me to the greatest bunch of folks I could ever wish to meet, some I have met in person, some on the phone and some through their posts to the list. The funny thing is I feel like I know them all as if I have had them for real time sailing friends for all of my life. I'm sorry I never had the chance to talk to Dave Anderson, but my thanks go out to him. Also I want to say thanks to Bill M. for On the Wire and Damon for his hard work, here and at thebeachcats.com to keep this forum up and running. On top of this (this is starting to sound like an acceptance speck at an awards dinner) I also want to say thanks to all of you who contribute (both on topic and off topic) to the list and make this community the great place it is.
