Wow that sounds SO familiar! (not the bedding so
much - but the other stuff!) They expected me to wait on them hand and foot too and to entertain them
as well. They broke all the house rules. They complain about every meal. MIL has
even said I should iron DH underwear. She criticizes every aspect of my house
keeping. (Sometimes I know she makes things up.) Last time I had a professional
service clean the day before mil and FIL arrived (without her knowing) and she
still complained. I just found out today that they called my dh at work and told
him that they might be visiting after the new year begins. I told him he better
make it clear that they will be staying in a hotel. I am hoping they just don't
come.

Wow, you're a much better woman than I. I too avoid the phone calls
(not too tough since they hardly ever call anyhow). They came to visit
once - Faith was a month old. They expected me to wait on them hand and
foot, even wash their bedding every day, which was really bizarre since they
only bathe like once a week, if that. I tried showing them how to use
the wash machine and do it themselves, but they wouldn't. Plus my mil
had a cold and gave it to Faith. I ended up spending most of their stay
holed up in my bedroom while my DH was at work! I'm sure they won't come
to visit again soon. I told DH if they do, they can stay in the hotel
down the street! We really don't have much room for guests anyhow
either! What's worse, is that my mil told dh's best friend after that
that I should be out on the street for "making" dh help me with the house
work! Good thing I wasn't around to hear that
comment! Pamela Hanson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I had a similar situation. Fortunately my
MIL/FIL live in another state. I suddenly developed a "dislike" of planes
and travel. I just happen not to be around when they call or DH calls
them. (This stopped the anatomization or fake friendliness on the
phone) Problem solved on my end. :) The only times they ever came here no
one had a good time and they stayed too long on all occasions - and refused
to stay in a hotel. I got rid of the guest bed after the last visit. We
simply don't have the room now. I occasionally send a kind
and non-personal card with photos of kids so they don't feel left out.
Beyond that the ball is in their court.
I sincerely wish them well. I hope their days
are filled with happiness and their nights with sound happy
sleep.
Best wishes!

I was getting that crap from my in-laws when Faith was only 9 months
old...not looking forward to their comments next time we see them if she's
still nursing then. My fil totally humiliated and degraded me in
front of a bunch of people back then, and really upset me, so it will
probably be a LONG time before we see them again...so maybe she will be
done nursing by then! Tami Spillman
