FRIGID WEATHER SENDS CHILL THROUGHOUT REGION
Just in time for today's first day of winter, a cold front sent temperatures
dipping toward the freezing mark in Southwest Florida overnight but a warming
trend should arrive by midweek. The cold air was expected to approach
record-low temperatures early today. The record low for Naples on Dec. 21 is 33
degrees.

MOLESTER BACK TO FLORIDA
More than a year after he failed to show up in Naples for trial on lewd and

Steve Donovan's straight talk scores again. The Collier County School Board
member gets to the heart of a matter that leaves others tongue-tied: What to
say about Christmas in public schools. Donovan recommends embracing it and
downplays the notion that mentioning it or any other winter holiday is a slap
at any other that is not mentioned.

POSTAL WORKERS FEEL LAST-MINUTE HOLIDAY CRUNCH
Last-minute holiday shoppers mean late-night work for post office employees.
Monday was one of the busiest mailing days of the year. Wednesday will be one
of the busiest delivery days. At Naples' main post office on Goodlette- Frank
Road, the stream of people was endless Monday. The line moved quickly, but so
did the incoming cars. Around noon, Sally Mahon timed the line 10 minutes.
Not bad, she and friend Carrie Robinson said.
