I have a question for you. What was your most 'what was I
thinking' sort of moment in recent history? Mine had to of been today
when I was coming back from running errands, put my car in park, then
proceeded to gather my things. Believing all was well and my car was
securely placed in park, I noticed the car parked next to me starting
to move backwards. Sitting there in a state of... [Continued]

Welcome to Just Ask Matt! - The IT industry?s answer to the help

Pro and usually run Mozilla 1.8a4, Privacy Guardian with Sygate
Firewall along with NIS2005 I installed Sp2 all was fine (boot up took
about 40sec) until I received three updates from MS, one of them was a
MS virtual machine (java code I think), ever since this latest auto

One thing about the holidays that is enough to drive a guy batty
is the onslaught of calls. My personal favorites is 'what brand of
(insert product here) should I get for (so and so)? Now while a large
number of these callers are either current or past clients, a large
number of them are nothing more than people looking for some fast,
free advice that will prevent them from buying electronics that turn

Scribbled by Matt Wilkinson I had several client calls these past
couple of weeks related to DSL outages from SBC Yahoo. On Monday, Dec.
13, I got a call that DSL was down in an office I support. Power
cycling the Netopia DSL Router didn't help. A call to the SBC DSL
support line revealed there was a widespread outage in the Chicago
area. I figured we'd give SBC overnight to get their stuff
together.... [Continued]

Using Network Monitor, you can perform some of the tasks that
would otherwise be performed by a firewall or proxy program.
Generally, software manufacturers frown on this because they want you
to buy their products, and so they make it difficult to do, all the
while prodding you towards the ease and functionality of the enhanced
product. This particular tactic is prevalent within Network Monitor,
as it is really a smaller version of the SMS... [Continued]

Scribbled by Matt of JustCallMatt.net. I find myself sitting in a
Starbucks in between clients on a chilly day in Chi-Town... I had just
completed a residential Wireless LAN installation consisting of an
Airport Extreme Base Station and Airport Express Adapter to stream to
the client's home stereo, a brand new 14" iBook (gift from the client
to her husband), and a Dell Inspirion 600m laptop. The home was
already Cat-5 Wired, so I had... [Continued]
