Good article, though there's a shift in voice in the middle that skips over the
key counter-argument. I also find the term "optional scope" misleading as
applied to this approach. Perhaps "variable scope" or "incremental scope"
would be better.
I have some ideas about how I'd want to structure such a contract, with the key
point being to require periodic customer feedback every two to four weeks. So
instead of saying what you promise to deliver in six months, you just say that
at each review point, you make a commitment that only goes to the next review
point. Each party is on the hook to participate in that review.
