Maybe, the rights and responsibilities of the developers and customers in XP 
would be something a lawyer could turn into a suitable contract.

        Well, I am quite ignorant when it comes to all this. My end goal is to
        have a contract that lays out the foundation for the same concepts
        outlined by the "Optional Scope Contracts" document. You can probably
        replace optional scope with "incremental functionality" or however a
        legal document would want to call it.
        
        I think it's not so much that I know what I want as much as it is that
        I know what I do not want. I don't want to promise a client a 'site
        that does everything' for X sum of money to be delivered in Z time..
        and then go through a long enduring process of re-learning the
        requirements.
