All Horoscopes: http://web1.nypost.com/cgi-bin/horoscope.pl
ARIES
You will be on fire today. You will be even more energetic and enthusiastic
than usual - if that is possible. Don't make any plans, just take life as it
comes: Each and every situation will offer something to be passionate about.
You will move so fast and do so much that others may have trouble keeping up
with you. Tough luck on them.
1-900-990-7810*
TAURUS
No matter how much you might prefer to stick to methods you feel comfortable
with, you must be more adventurous. The world around you is changing at an ever
increasing pace and you must change with it if you want to take advantage of
new opportunities. You don't have to change your essential nature; you just
have to be a bit more flexible.
1-900-990-7811*
GEMINI
Partnership matters in general and affairs of the heart in particular are under
excellent stars, so don't be coy: Let those who are important to you know how
much you appreciate their efforts and let those you love know how much you
care. Mercury, your ruler, close to Venus, planet of love, will sweeten your
words over the next 24 hours.
1-900-990-7812*
CANCER
You seem to be working harder than ever, but are you working for your own
interests or for the interests of colleagues and employers? That is something
you need to sit down and think about, and if it turns out you are doing more
for others than you are doing for yourself, then, obviously, there will have to
be changes. Your needs must come first.
1-900-990-7813*
LEO
You have never been one to avoid taking risks, and today you will go out of
your way to seek them out. A Mercury-Venus conjunction in the most dynamic area
of your chart means that both your head and your heart are telling you that you
cannot fail; that whatever gamble you choose to take, it will pay off. They're
right, it will, so don't hang around!
1-900-990-7814*
VIRGO
There is no point being aggressive when dealing with family situations because
that will only encourage others to be aggressive, too. With Mercury, your
ruler, close to Venus, planet of harmony, in the domestic area of your chart,
you will get a lot more done over the next 24 hours if you use your charm.
Don't laugh - you've got plenty!
1-900-990-7815*
LIBRA
You will be in an extremely sociable mood today, so much so that you simply
cannot be bothered with your work and your chores. That might get you into hot
water with colleagues and employers, but you will worry about that when the
time comes. For now, you want nothing more than to hit the town with your
friends and have a good time.
1-900-990-7816*
SCORPIO
Don't wait to take advantage of an opportunity that opens up for you today.
Your rivals would not hesitate to use it, so why should you? If fate hands you
the chance to move up in the world, it can only be because you have earned it.
It may not always seem like it, but everything happens at the right time, so it
must be your time to benefit.
1-900-990-7817*
SAGITTARIUS
A Mercury-Venus conjunction in your birth sign means that your head and your
heart are working in perfect harmony and what they are both telling you is to
forget about your money worries and your emotional problems and to go out and
have fun. If you can't let your hair down at this time of year, when can you?
Your love of life will be infectious.
1-900-990-7818*
CAPRICORN
If you use your imagination today, you will come up with an idea that inspires
you to such an extent that you will forget about what you should be doing and
focus entirely on your new toy. To others that might not seem like such a good
idea, but you desperately need something that motivates you to try harder and
aim higher. This could be it.
1-900-990-7819*
AQUARIUS
Friends and loved ones may think they are doing you a favor by coming up with
suggestions, but you don't need their assistance - in fact, it's the last thing
you want. You know in your own mind what it is you should be doing; now all you
need is the courage to do it in the face of the inevitable disapproving looks.
1-900-990-7808*
PISCES
Your time is precious and you must not waste it on people who cannot be of use
to you in your quest for fame and fortune. Others may call you a snob, but your
main aim now must be to make the acquaintance of those who can breathe new life
into your work and career. There is nothing wrong in a bit of social climbing.

NO HELP WANTED: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/37247.htm
By MARK CANNIZZARO
The task that stands before the 10-5 Jets as they embark on their
regular-season finale is quite simple: Win and they're in.
There are other scenarios for them to get into the postseason without
beating the Rams Sunday in St. Louis, but Herman Edwards wants no part of any
scenario other than a Jets' victory.

QB BRINGS ACHE GAME: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/37244.htm
THAT is not Chad Pennington straining to push the Jets into the playoffs.
It is Chad Painington. It has been the dirty little secret around the Jets,
because no one wants to give the opponent a competitive advantage, because no
one, least of all Pennington, wants to use his pre-surgical shoulder as an
excuse for starting 5-0 and now living on the edge of doom with P-Day Playoff
Day arriving Sunday in St. Louis.

ROCKETS ARE A WRECK: http://www.nypost.com/sports/37246.htm
JIMMY Jackson got the call yesterday he didn't want to
hear, and had no idea was coming. As the journeyman small forward was preparing
to join his Rocket teammates on the team charter to Milwaukee for tonight's
game, VP Carroll Dawson informed him he'd been traded along with Bostjan
Nachbar to New Orleans for David Wesley.

STORM'S EPPERSON SUSPENDED: http://www.nypost.com/sports/37245.htm
St. John's will be without starting forward Rodney
Epperson for tonight's game against Canisius in the Holiday Festival in the
Garden after the university suspended the junior college transfer indefinitely.

HODGE COOL TO IDEA OF BEING NO. 2: http://www.nypost.com/sports/37248.htm
 By LENN ROBBINS
I know N.C. State swingman Julius Hodge well enough to know that what
he said to me yesterday wasn't exactly the truth, the whole truth and nothing
but the truth. Which is, as he would say, cool.

HUSKIES ROLL OVER ROCKETS: http://www.nypost.com/sports/37253.htm
 By NICK PARISH
DETROIT It would make sense that, at the Motor City
Bowl, a few rivets might shore up a team's game, but the metal in Toledo
quarterback Bruce Gradkowski's throwing hand disabled the Rockets' offense.
Meanwhile, the other top gun at Ford Field, Connecticut's Dan Orlovsky, passed
for 239 yards and two touchdowns, leading his Huskies to a 39-10 victory last
night in their bowl debut.

PEREZ, METS NOT MEETING . . . YET: http://www.nypost.com/sports/mets/37252.htm
  By JOEL SHERMAN
A face-to-face meeting with Odalis Perez is not on Omar
Minaya's immediate agenda. More and more, though, the Mets GM is pushing for a
sit-down with the biggest free-agent prize, Carlos Beltran.

MARA TIME: http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants/37254.htm
  BY PAUL SCHWARTZ
Wellington Mara admits he doesn't have the answer to what he believes is the
most pressing question of the fading season: What in the world happened to the
Giants following their 5-2 start?

MANNING PHONES HOME: http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants/37240.htm
  By PAUL SCHWARTZ
Following a 23-22 loss in Cincinnati, Eli Manning phoned his father
Archie, which is not uncommon. This time, though, Eli had a specific purpose
for the call. He wanted to know if older brother Peyton had broken Dan Marino's
single season touchdown record.

WILL IT NEVER END?: http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants/37241.htm
  By PAUL SCHWARTZ
QUARTERBACKS Still too many bad throws for Eli
Man ning (19 of 37, 202 yards, 1 INT) but enough good ones to consider this
pro gress. Six consecutive scoring drives great, only one TD not-so-great.

ABRAHAM A NO-GO: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/37243.htm
  By MARK CANNIZZARO
Though Herman Edwards sounded as if he's not ruling out having John
Abraham ready to play Sunday in St. Louis, Abraham yesterday acknowledged that
he'll miss his fourth consecutive game Sunday because of his right knee injury.

COMPLETE FAILURES: http://www.nypost.com/sports/jets/37242.htm
  By MARK CANNIZZARO
QUARTERBACKS Chad Pennington (22-36, 252 yards,
1 TD, 2 TDs) didn't play well. Most of his statistical production came in
garbage time.

KNICKS BEGIN TO MAKE MOVE: http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/37250.htm
  By MARC BERMAN
ORLANDO Jamal Crawford should watch and learn. Ball
movement. The Knicks haven't always done it well this season. Until last night.

ISIAH AND STEPH SHARE TOUGH LOVE: http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/37251.htm
  By MARC BERMAN
ORLANDO After last week's defensive debacle, after those two
consecutive losses when the Knicks gave up 123 points and 114 points to Dallas
and Boston, respectively, Isiah Thomas chewed out Stephon Marbury, telling him
to step up his defense.

LOG ON & LUXE
By PAUL THARP
Bragging rights for who won the Christmas sales derby may have to be shared
this year among Amazon.com, Coach and the ubiquitous gift card.
Merchants were still counting tallies at the start of this week's crucial
wrap-up of the holiday-sales period, when as much as a quarter of retailing

DEAR DR. FOX: As a regular reader of your column, I often see your
advice that yearly vaccinations of our pets into old age is ill-advised.
However, I have yet to see mention of that other medication vets routinely
prescribe for dogs monthly heartworm preventative. Some of these are geared
strictly toward parasites such as hookworm, and whipworm. The newest targets
these parasites as well as fleas and deer ticks. I do not want to put my two
small dogs at risk, but I don't want to ply them with unnecessary drugs. What
is your recommendation on monthly heartworm medications? I live in an area with
mosquitoes, and my dogs are out with me for walks and play for an hour a day.
