Marv,  while the gain in revs is nice, the best  thing is durability.

We do more motoring with the 5hp on the achilles dingy than  on
the f-24[we move the motor back and forth}, most of it  in very
shallow water.  While we try to be careful for economical and
environmental reasons, occasionally we spaz and have a bottom
strike and ding the prop, it's amazing how it effects performance,
a prop in perfect shape will "plane" two of us, dinged we be a
displacement hull.   I know from experience with larger
outboards that strikes that would deform or destroy aluminum
simply[ as key fishing guides say],  "polish" a stainless steel
one.   I"ve never had a problem with blowing up the drive train as
Don mentions, but if i can find one for the 5 i will keep that in
mine as it makes sense.    paul, f-24mk1 "knee deep"
