There is a good article in the Jan. Feb. 2005 issue of Ocean Navigator
magazine. It is more about what makes a good dingy for ocean cruising and
about using the dingy as a tow boat, but there is a very good discussion on
props, how they effect the drive train, and includes the newer composite
props that have the push of the steel, are lighter yet, and absorb impact
too. Some of the composite props have replaceable blades to help save a
dollar when you hit something.
