I bought 110' of 5'16 Yale Light for mine. The 110' is long, but I had
a use for what I trimmed off- I don't remember how much. The 5/16 is
for gripping, you don't need it for strength. The Yale Light was to
have one of the non-absorbing lines that stay light- strength is not an
issue. I find 1/4 doesn't work well on the winches and 3/8 is a bit
much (what I use for my jib).
Going upwind I run my Calvert Screecher to the old genoa tracks on the
Cabin top- off wind I lead to the rings aft on the ama. For anything in
between (i.e. eased but still inside the cap shrouds), I just rig a
barber hauler.
