Deb,

So great to hear from you. I am so glad everyone is doing well,
especially Josh. Jonah sounds like he is doing well with school. His
classroom seems like a great set up. I wish we had something like that
here, well actually we do, Montessori, I just don't have the $800 a
month to send Kailey to it.

Recently, a friend's daughter (16 months) had a successful liver
transplant. They had been waiting for over a year and finally a couple
weeks before Christmas, they got the call. She was born with a liver
defect so they had never seen her healthy, within hours of the
transplant they couldn't believe her skin color and eye color....no more
yellow. She is thankfully doing well, except she fell down the stairs
and now has a broken arm complete with screws and plates. Please keep
the donor family in your prayers, as I'm sure this is a terrible time of
year for them.

Kris

Hey all! How is everyone and their Marchers doing? It's been a long
time since we've had any activity on our list and I thought I'd stir
things up.

We're doing well. JOnah is really enjoying school this year. What's
even better is we haven't had a single note from the teacher this year.
At his conference she mentioned that he's pretty chatty--something that
we already are well aware of--but otherwise said he's a good student.

Jonah is in a multiage program. There are three classes that have 5
first graders, 5 second graders and 5 third graders in each. Then at
specific times of the day they split up into age-level activities.
That's when Jonah does stuff with the other first graders only. He
loves his class. And what's cool is that the older kids help the
younger kids. Plus they match up the first graders with the 4th and 5th
multiage kids for book buddies where they practice their reading.

He had to do his first project and give a presentation just before
Thanksgiving. It was optional for the first graders, but he really
wanted to do it. They videotape it and send it home so parents can do
an assessment of his presentation and the student does a
self-assessment. It was pretty neat seeing my little guy doing his
first presentation. I don't think I had to do anything like that until
I was in high school.

He's very excited about Christmas. Are any of your kids asking
questions about the existence of Santa? We filled stockings for St.
Nick's day and on the way to the bus stop (after looking at the goodies
he got in his stocking), Jonah said "Mom, I think you put that stuff in
there." He had been a pretty uncooperative and naughty kid the day
before, so I said "Why would i do that? If it were me, I wouldn't have
given you anything!" So he decided it must have been St. Nick.

Then there's Josh. He's really thrived after his last surgery in
August. He's still small, but starting to eat better every day. And
we're so glad to have that third open heart surgery behind us. All we
know we have to do now is go back in for a cath where the docs will put
stents into Josh's too-small pulmonary arteries. But that seems way
less scary than full-blown surgery.

Unfortunately he's down for the count today after a bout with the
croup. He's so sweet. His language skills are coming around and he is
doing his best to learn all those Christmas songs he hears on the
radio. It seems that his favorite today is Paul McCartney's "Simply
having a wonderful Christmas time". Josh was in his first Christmas
program last week. His class marched and danced to "Do you hear what I
hear." He was dressed up like a little king, so cute. And he didn't
even get afraid or scared in front of the crowd--and believe me, he's
afraid of nearly everyone these days.

Didn't really mean to make this a novella. Just thought I'd do a quick
update. Let's hear how the rest of the Marchers (and their families)
are doing.

Deb
