More controllable too if you're looking to do something elaborate with them, due to the priming electrode. However, the price of lower current consumption is a significantly dimmer display. Having built clocks with both, I ended up preferring the IN-9, despite the extra hassles. BTW, IN-9 come in two colours - orange and purple-pink (loosely characterised as neon and argon, though the colours are not quite right for pure fills of either).
