I have here a viewfinder unit with an AN2516S, including EHT 'transformer'
and CRT socket for a ½"-CRT. As far as I remember from a SONY camera.

That's a little more serious than the little camcorder viewfinders!  They
run maybe 600V on the 2nd anode.

I'm guessing you're right - the box is either a tripler or a flyback and
tripler (if you don't see anything else that might be a flyback).  Judging
from your pictures, I'm guessing it's the flyback/tripler.

The one posted above is based on an AN25125 IC.
