Many thanks for the replies. Yes, the schematic from Stanislav Pechal is the one I seemed to remember, I just could not put ‘my finger on it’. I knew it looked familiar. I have made pcb’s in the past, photo resist board and used Easy PC in the days of DOS and when it was cheaper. I am now looking at the free offering from RS Components, I quite like it. I have already designed a HV generator and a 1 pulse/sec generator for my own use. I am also looking at learning about PIC’s. It is just that I have a relatively immediate need so a half way house between a complete own design and full kit is ideal hence to ebay offering seemed ideal. I may well go down the Stanislav Pechal route. As for using a pcb, either use a commercial company although I did get a lot of satisfaction form DIY. Getting up to date the ‘PCB in a BOX’ looks interesting.
