Thanks for the design idea, Michael. I actually have a tube of these in the drawer that I sampled at one point and have never even looked into seriously using. The fact that they are SPI is really exciting, since my preferred uC is the ATTiny2313. Even a direct-drive clock would be possible on the ATTiny2313, no shift register IC's required. :)
