Given that the currents are pretty modest, the absolute voltage isn't
critical and it's a DC rail (ie no high frequency signals) , I don't
think it's a big deal unless you're going to push the separation
concept to crazy levels. I have a design where there's 45cm of 7/0.2
wire between the HV PSU and the nixie board, and there's no issue.
Just put a small cap on the board to provide some local energy storage
to stabilise the HV rail. 1uF 250V electrolytic works fine in my
application.
