Japanese nixie tubes belong to the most beautiful nixies ever build. I have several tens of Rodan/Okaya side view CD66 (13mm digit), GR112 (10mm digit) tubes with their very fine and discrete horizontal mesh as anode: GR112: http://www.turbokeu.com/myprojects/nixie/pict0034.jpg CD66: http://www.turbokeu.com/myprojects/nixie/pict0033.jpg
As top view tube there is the beautiful round Rodan/Okaya CD13a (7.8mm digit), comparable to the Burroughs B4998 and/or the National NL7977 (which I own too but no pictures). CD13a: http://www.turbokeu.com/myprojects/nixie/pict0041.jpg In comparison to the cheap (and ugly) Russian IN-17 nixie: http://www.turbokeu.com/myprojects/nixie/pict0040.jpg It took me years to find a batch (of minimum six) of these nixies, fortunately at reasonable prices at that time.
