Thanks Per, the very best way to run filaments is with AC, particularly when they are single straight linear heaters. Using AC gaurantees that the voltage differential beween either end of the filament and any anode is not noticeable as you look across the display. The IV-17 uses a single folded filament and has a 2.5V differential end to end. Because the multiplexing requires a minimum of 35V grid supply, then the 2.5V differential produces no brightness gradient and because of the folded filament both ends are terminated alongside each other, which seems to mitigate unpleasant effects resulting from any noticeable luminosity differential. (And I haven't noticed any differential at all) I chose to keep each tube on a seperate supply, so there is a 56 Ohm resistor in series with each tube's filament resulting in a 2.45V filament voltage when fed with a 5V supply.
