This display does not appear to need the high voltage directly (~170V)
that a bare gas plasma display would require; the data sheet says this
is generated this internally with its own DC/DC converter.

The power requirement for the special 5V or standard 8-24V versions is
the total input at those voltages with no separate HV required.  This
would be the same paradigm used in the Futaba VFD meant to drop into
LCD sockets where you put 5V in and the display does the rest
including filament drive and the like.

If you look at the P2/P3 pin descriptions on page 2, there is only a
single input power pin=VDD:  There is no separate logic supply since
the logic is standard TTL which means that the internal logic runs off
a post regulator from the VDD pin.
