Basically, make sure your current does not excess the values speciefied
in the datasheet (and check it on each digit). In some cases, there
might be a noticeably discrepancy between digits with large areas (like
8) and digits with rather small areas (a decimal point, for example).

Hi,
I stumbled across "cathode equalizing resistors" in the GR10G
datasheet (http://www.jb-electronics.de/html/elektronik/nixies/
n_gr10g.htm?lang=en). They say 8k2 and 4k7 resistors are required to
account for the smaller size of "1" and "7".
Have you seen equalizing resistors mentioned for other tubes than the
GR10G?
Although I have never read about those in other datasheets or web
sites about nixies, to me equalizing resistors sound like a very good
idea. I guess they will increase tube live and I think I will add them
in case I ever build driver boards for my CD47s or Z5680Ms.
Regards
Markus
PS: A few months ago I received a GR10G where the "1" is broken. It
might very well be coincidence, but the tube might as well have died
from a missing resistor...
