As I understood well, Tim would let implat a chip and neuter the cat anyhow.
I am not aware of the supplement price of a chip recognizing cat door, but I
think it woun't be really much and the damage of 'Tommy' would make may be
greater.

That is correct.
Every cat with a rare earth magnet hanging low on their collar will have
access.
 
Is the high security and cost of an implanted RFID chip really required for
something like the access of a cat?  Just a thought.

May be it is wise you tell your Vet the chip will be needed for the cat door
also; he can implant the chip at the best place.
