I had the same problem.
However, I got tired of replacing screen doors, so I just made them wear a  
collar.  It's been about 10 years now (3 lost collars, and about 20  
batteries).
 
There is the nice RFID unit on ebay for $200 (but a google search will get  
it for you at about $120).  Either way you go, it's a great buy.

PS. Note:  I got tired of the one can bringing in birds, mice, and  
goffers.  Put a bell on his collar.  The magnet took a liking to it  which 
silenced 
it.  Just have to figure out the right spot for the  bell.

Don't worry about it. Strays don't  have magnet collars! Thing to worry 
about is if your cat will tolerate a  collar. My two kitties go into fits if I 
put a collar on them. They lay in a  ball claws dug into the collar and 
growl. Hours on end until I take it off! So  much for that!
