I've seen the trimpots on the anode circuit of Russian high speeds. I 
figured it was primarily to adjust for maximum speed. hadn't thought about 
them for adjacent leakage. I added a 200K trimpot, and have managed to get 
the glow to cover only two at a time, but very consistently.
