I remember a "funny" display on a CDC 160A, there were 8 lamps illuminating a frosted glass, each lamp had a cover where a number was cut out. This made it possible to display an octal digit easily. But it didn't have the charm of a Nixie. for the 360, I think it was something like a midget flanged bulb.
