Both Collins Radio (Cedar Rapids, IA) and King Radio (Olathe, KS) licensed, separately, Panaplex technology from Dale (Columbus, NE). Both companies manufactured those displays in-house for use with their own avionics equipment. While the fundamental technology was the same, significant design changes were made by each company to facilitate operation over wider temperature and emissivity (brightness) ranges. I believe King production ended sometime in the early 2000's. Collins production ended much earlier as they supplanted their plasma displays with dichromic LCD's in the 90's.
