Hi all,
I'm not an S-II expert, but the one I am most familiar with has
something I had never seen before in a patch bay: The patch bays have
short jacks that are only Ring and Sleeve (so a TRS plug inserted in the
jack would make contact on the Ring and Sleeve, with the Tip hanging in
free air. They even made shorter than normal patch cables to go with,
that have a sleeve and then the tip where the ring would normally go.
Not sure about the ground bussing.

Aside from the mike inputs, the SII is completely unbalanced, so ring
and sleeve of all PB jacks could (and should) be bussed together at
the patchbay. I remember looking at my now defunct SII and seeing that
these terminals were in fact bussed in the patchbay strips.
