Greetings, Hi Jack! IMO, it's a fantastic idea; if done correctly you may end up with improved noise figures and no negative alteration to the sound of your console............However, It's a BIG job and really needs to be well though out, well planned and well executed. If Ralph is aware of all the work involved and is very careful in his execution, you'll end up with a more reliable, lower noise console that will then be EASY to work on the next time a switch or pot goes bad. Why don't you suggest to Ralph that he sign up on the group? I (and I'm sure others) have ideas, suggestions and details that could assist the project. I hope you don't end up with "sticker shock" after he gets an outline and estimate together for the job. Good luck!
