I've been having lots of problems lately with Nessus+NMAP missing open ports. This has been happening with both the stable and CVS versions compiled on Debian stable. The last host I scanned had about 6 open ports but Nessus only picked up TCP 80 and then didn't report any of the usual information about the server running on that port. I've tried scanning local to remove any variables introduced by firewalls, routers, etc. along the path between the nessusd and target and it is still missing open ports.
I don't know if nmap is missing the ports and passing false scan info to nessus or if nessus is just losing some ports somewhere in the dependency logic. In scanning the lists, it looks like perhaps others have had similar problems but nothing that has been suggested seems to have helped. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there any debugging information that I can send that might help? I've been tailing the logs and compiling with --enable-debug and I don't see anything unusual in the logs. -- --- Nathan Valentine - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Jabber: NRVesKY AIM: NRVesKY ICQ: 39023424
