Hey, Rob!!

Click on the preferences tab (I can't think of the exact name for it, but I think its "preferences") and on the bottom, you can check and uncheck the type of scans. Also, under the plug-ins folder, you can check / uncheck the type of vulnerabilities to access it.

I'm not sure, but updateting the plugins - would that have the affect on the version of nmapping? I'd think so. For example, 3.5 is out, is that the version Nessus is using?

Things to think about it.

But let me know if the above doesn't help you. I'm relatively new to Nessus myself. Heck, I'm new to this whole *nix thing. It took me a whole day to find out how to access my floppy drive. What the heck does "mounting" mean? LOL I finally adjusted the script so it mounts my floppy and CD-ROM at boot time. Phew!

Hi,

We have been using nmap to do periodic port scans on our network (looking for services, viruses, etc that shouldn't be there). What I couldn't figure out is how to get nessus to do a simple port scan -- and nothing else -- and report back open ports.

How can I, for instance, get nessus to simply do the same scan as would result from this nmap command: "nmap -p 3127-3198 10.119.94.1-254"?

Also, from the gui, how can I select just a single plugin to run? When I select the family, all the plugins in that family are selected. Is there a simple way to simply select the one I want without having to unselect 50 others?

Thanks,
Rob
