This morning I have upgraded my Nessus installation on Debian GNU/Linux woody 2.4.20-1-686 with the usual "apt-get update && apt-get install nessus".
Afterwards I tried to run a test scan on the hosts in my network. As like in [1] my Nessus client produces the some fork errors in /var/log/nessus/ - The launch of all the plugins is not possible:
Hmmm.. reviewing my mailbox, I found a report from a user that had the same issue. This was because the desc files had not been updated by nessusd and it had references to plugins that were no longer available. Just try removing all the files at /var/lib/nessus/plugins/.desc/
I will probably add some code in the postinst so that upgrades from 2.0. don't fail because of this issue (which is related also to a change in the location of files from package version 2.0 to 2.2)
