It doesn't matter which tool you use to create it, just that it be a
text file.

It's easier to specify ranges when working with IP addresses; faster
too. 

By the way: If you prefer to see hostnames in the report, make sure you
select "Do a reverse lookup on the IP before testing it" in "Scan
Options (reverse_lookup=yes).  Also, you may be better off reporting by
MAC address if the targets use DHCP to get their IP addresses and your
scanner is on the same subnet as the targets.

Well, this is what works with Nessus.  Inprotect might use something
different; I don't know, but if it doesn't I suggest asking on the
Inprotect mailing list.
