sometimes bugs creap into seldomly-used code-parts or
are only activated in seldom environments/situations.
They may not be detected during a number of releases
after introduced.
It then is helpful to test with older versions to compare
whether the problem was introduce between two versions.

I experienced this a number of times (not with nessus though).
