2 comments about that:

1) It was released in RFC2096, but is v4 only.
2) the V6 work is not yet published in an RFC but is in the RFC
   editors queue to be published as one.  This actually means that it
   is stable and isn't expected to change before coming an RFC and
   it's just paperwork left to get it published (the RFC editor's
   queue is currently 6-9 months long, though it's improving).
