There are times that I'm very glad that I'm safely thousands of
miles away, with a nice wide ocean between me and any imminent
conflicts!  :-)

Sounds good to me.
Wes - would you have any objections to 'mib2c.int_watch.conf' being
switched to a scalar-based approach?

I'm actually wondering whether we ought to provide a set of
"netsnmp_register_*_scalar" routines as well.  They're not
strictly necessary (since the watched_scalar handles this
situation perfectly competently), but many people seem happier
using the single-call APIs.

I'm not so sure that this is appropriate.
The scalar helper works better as a wrapper round the instance
helper - not the other way round.   I don't believe that the
instance helper is particularly useful - but I don't think
that we should actually change the functionality.
