The problems stems from a patch that Wes applied back in May, but I have
just recently upgraded my production Solaris boxes and started seeing
BigSister complainingi about flipping UP status.

So are you actually proposing to include this in 5.2.2 and ask for support? Because if you did, I'd lean on your side. :-) It can't do any harm on other platforms than Solaris (since it lives in kernel_sunos5.c) and looks like a highly important fix for Solaris users monitoring their interfaces. We've had several complaints in the past on the lists. (Anyone still listening? We could benefit from your testing!)
