We don't need to ship it with the source. It is only used for creating the binary release. I can use the files from main so I see no reason not to remove it.
There are a couple of references to win32/dist/Configure_Overview.html in README.win32 which I can change. There's also a script called 'tosock1.sh' by Mike Slifcak which I have never tried. It converts all references from Winsock 2 to Winsock 1. I doubt it still works and I see no reason to support Winsock 1. Windows 9x users can install the Winsock2 update from Microsoft.
