I'm probable not the David you are asking, but I will provide some input
since I have this same issue a couple of weeks ago.
Yes, the -x option can be used. Here is how I use it to launch snmpd as a
master and subagent where I want the -x option to be the address of the
Master agent:
Master Agent
snmpd -I -proc,-disk,-loadave -x udp:10.100.4.129:705
Subagent
snmpd -X -c /etc/snmp/snmpdx.conf -C -Lf /var/log/snmpdx.log \
-x udp: 10.100.4.129:705
NOTE: I had to added "upd" to make it work.

Is the option "-x" works well in Net-Snmp version 5.1.2 ?:???
