I'm somewhat irritated. We *have* started to support --enable-as-needed already for 5.4 (default to off), but just for libcrypto and libsensors. This is just incomplete and the corresponding "configure --help" output promises more than it does. If there isn't a +3 consensus to fix this now, can it be done at least for 5.4.1?
